I get stuck on a New Pornographers album every couple months or so. It’s usually Twin Cinema or Electric Version, but right now I’ve been listening to Mass Romantic, which I recently picked up a physical copy of at Plan 9. I’ve decided to budget (a term I use loosely to mainly say that I decided to  use up my money slightly less blindly) buying a used cd every week, since I’m not really interested in going out and buying drinks. I think that I get more satisfaction out of a $5 cd than I do from a $5 drink (though I hardly drink more than once or twice a month, but leave me alone! I’m trying to justify spending my money)!

Anyways, I hate to use such a cliched expression (is that phrase a cliche in itself?), but they really do have an original sound. I like Neko Case’s solo work, but I feel like her voice is more interesting when she sings with the New Pornographers, because her twang is less expected than when she does her more country-tinged music.
